Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust take on Hogmoor Community Buildings
The Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust (WBCT) are pleased to announce that they will be taking on the management and delivery of the Hogmoor Community Buildings at the Hogmoor Inclosure. Over the course of 2018 these facilities have been built by the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC) to support the wider regeneration of the town, adding additional value to the existing facilities at the Hogmoor Inclosure. The WBCT will take on responsibility for the site and the completion of the fit out and interior. Since the discovery of a bomb, and subsequent damage to the buildings there has been a delay to the opening. Our Community Trust are working hard behind the scenes to ensure as soon as all work is completed we are ready to welcome you to our cafe and facilities.
The WBCT is a registered charity set up through the regeneration of the town to promote and develop community projects, events and facilities for the benefit of the whole community. The WBCT will operate these buildings on behalf of the community, providing a Community Café, an Education/Outdoor Learning Space, public toilets (including the town’s first changing places facility), and a community garden for local residents and their families to grow food. The site also includes a free to use car park.
Funding for the delivery of the facilities has been secured from S106 Developer Contributions awarded by EHDC and with support provided by the Power to Change Bright Ideas Fund, working in partnership with Locality.
Cllr Ferris Cowper, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Whitehill & Bordon, said: “It’s great that the WBCT has taken over the running of the community buildings at the Hogmoor Inclosure. I’m sure it will do a sterling job in making another fantastic space in the town for the community to come together, stay connected and enjoy various events and social gatherings, as well as hosting a wide range of initiatives that support the Healthy New Town programme.”
The WBCT will work with local partners and stakeholders to create and deliver a programme of events and activities across the Inclosure.
“The Hogmoor Community Buildings represent a fantastic opportunity to create an inclusive and accessible place for people to come together and explore our natural environment. We look forward to working with local groups and residents to help shape the plans for the site, providing opportunities for employment, volunteering and learning, as well as range of exciting events and activities that can be enjoyed by the whole community.”
