Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust had a great time in the build-up to the big day! Now it's over and we're preparing for the New Year celebrations why not take a look at
a few highlights of the recent events!
Christmas Light Switch on
We kicked off our Christmas festivities on the 22nd November by participating in the annual Christmas Light Switch-On with Whitehill Town Council and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The weather was ideal and the night's festivities began with the opening of Santas Grotto, followed shortly by the by the Town Mayor switching on the lights, all accompanied by the Sacred Heart Pipe Band who piped us into the nights festivities!
Christmas Songs at Hogmoor
An impromptu Christmas sing event at Hogmoor Inclosure, led by Father John from Sacred Heart Church, where was joined by students from Weyford School, Hollywater School, and St. Matthew's CofE School, more than 250 students from nearby schools joined in throughout the day. A lot of those that attended took the opportunity to colour in Christmas tree decoration, hanging their Christmas wish on the tree.
Christmas at Hogmoor
Saturday the 30th marked Christmas at Hogmoor, and collaborating with Deadwater Valley Trust made the day truly special. Once more, the weather favored us. We featured over 16 craft stalls and an excellent variety of food and drinks from Crepe Britain, The Great Big Pig, and Bean and Gone.
Of course the Big Man and his Reindeer made an appearance again!
Santas Grotto at the Shed
Sunday, 8th December, was our final Christmas event for this season. This time, we were not so lucky as Storm Darragh blew its best and forced us all inside. To be fair, we were very cosy, tucked in the corner in our very quickly pulled together magical Grotto.
All in all over the 3 events, Santa was visited by over 350 children and almost as many dogs!! He has now sent all the requests back to the elves and they are packing and wrapping!!
Gnome on the Roam
Now there was one naughty fella that made a break for it after our event on the 30th.
He has been spotted a few times and each time has eluded capture!! If you do see him please contact Julie at Deadwater Valley Trust.
A Big Thank You
None of the above events would have been possible without the great community that we have, the brilliant collaborative work from all organisations involved, all our volunteers and the generosity of Babcock, Asmodee, and Councilor Stevens who helped fund all the gifts and decorations for the events.
If you would like to be involved next year, or in any of our events and projects please do get in touch at info@wb-ct.org or give us a call 07762961849.
